The best footwear I've ever owned

I've had these on in every terrain. They kept my feet warm in the snow, dry through creeks, and stable down rocky terrain. They fit like a glove. I could just about sleep in them.

Quality of shoe is fine but sizing is abysmal

Too early to determine how good the boot is, but Salomon sizing is abysmal. No size 12 UK is made in this style. The sizing chart suggests I am a size 10 UK from the length. I can't get my foot even remotely inside this size. I purchased size 11.5 UK as this was the nearest to size 12 I use for another brand's boot. It was probably too snug. I then purchased size 12.5UK and I feel there is a small amount of unnecessary movement in the boot. However, I am perceveirung with this size and hoping for the best on my next trek. I have a size 12.5 UK already Salomon shoe which fits fine and a Salomon size 11 Outline shoe which is too small. So my advice is don't buy Salomon shoes/boots online. Even different Salomon styles are different in size. The sizing chart and how to measure your feet as recommended by Salomon is completely useless. They are just random numbers put on the chart that actually mean very little. Go to a shop and try them on. Don't buy on online from Salomon. For this reason, I cannot recommend Salomon products because of their failed sizing system.

Salomon quest 4 GTX

Very comfortable even on first use. Did not need to “break them in” as with other boots. Expensive but worth the extra money for what you get. Highly recommend.

Initially I was very happy with them and even though they were a bit stiff I was sure with use they would soften up, but the hard plastic the laces are mounted on is still sticking into the top of my foot and doesn’t seem to be softening up, I’m a bit disappointed considering they were so expensive
