X ULTRA 4 GTX MEN'S

This shoe is fantastic. I walk everywhere in these shoes around the streets on concrete pavements, on dirt trails in parks and on wilderness hikes in Japan. They are comfortable and waterproof. Only criticism is they wear relatively quickly on concrete but that is doing many kilometres.

Brilliant shoes and delivered exactly as advised.

Terrible durability

I've been a long time fan of Salomon, owning their Quest GTX boots and my previous pair of trail runners were Salomons, and held up very well for 5 years through some rugged terrain. Based on the durability of my last pair of runners, I was excited for my next pair, but was quickly and deeply disappointed. First impressions, the shoes look great, are seriously comfy straight out of the box, very lightweight, and the grip was good. I ran very well in them, and was excited! The honeymoon phase did not last long. Within 6 weeks, the fabric on the upper of the shoes began to split, first one shoe, then the other a couple weeks later. The splits run from the laces down the side to the sole. The sides are now delaminating too. Glad I paid for that expensive goretex, gooooodbyeeee waterproofing! Durability was the main reason I praise Salomon to others, and to have these shoes split after such a short period is really poor. They cannot be worn in the rain, when travelling through wet gullies or across water paths, they cant even be worn on grass moist with morning dew without drenching my socks. They are useless except in completely dry conditions, where I still get debris under my foot that enters in the holes. Ouch. This is the premium trail running shoe on offer from this company, and I feel ripped off.

These shoes cannot be worn in the rain or if I'm running after periods of wet through gullies or across water paths, which isn't uncommon, or even on damp grass without getting my socks soaked.

Great shoes, but doesnt come in half sizes

Shoes are comfy I have used the jack 3D pro models gortex which were awesome. Feet do get a bit sweaty with the does after a long days use, but otherwise comfy and durable. My only gripe is that these dont come in half sizes, and being 8.5 US it annoying that i had to get size 9 and wear bigger socks. overall not bad.
