GTNS 2024: Year 1: Run, Won and Done.

Year 1 has been officially Run, Won and Done

The Golden Trail National Series for 2024 has come to an end. We’d firstly like to thank all participants, volunteers and race directors for a very successful competition. We set out to provide a platform for our elite runners to put trail running on the map in the region and take our incredible talent to the world stage.

The series kicked off in March under the very hot and brutal conditions that Warburton Trail Festival had to offer. The competition in the field was equally as hot with the top athletes from around the country gathering to compete in the 4 round series. From that weekend, we knew the competition would make for some very exciting races.

The series very quick moved to stunning Tasmania with round 2 at Kunanyi Mountain Run. Golden Trail National Series is designed to provide the top athletes from around the region with the opportunity to win a spot at the World Series Final to be held later this year.

Round 3 we stopped at the Coastal Ascent Race in Newcastle with a beach start this competition would outline the athletes that would be competing for those sought after positions in the Australian team heading to Europe to compete on the global stage.

The competition gathered momentum throughout the front half of the year which ultimately took us to the mandatory final at the Brisbane Trail Ultra, where we witnessed the highs and lows that trail running has to offer. We complete the series with 4 very pleased winners who will now gear up to take on the worlds best.
