Ticks all the boxes, even for the Tasmanian wilderness!

This pack is brilliant! I had been looking at it for a while, and now that I have it I wish I'd had it for years! It's the perfect motivator to get me out the door on the fast and light missions. I can comfortably go on fast and light overnight adventures, even in cold conditions (carrying more gear). I recently went to Federation Peak via the infamous Farmhouse Creek approach and was able to tackle the mighty Moss Ridge with ease. The pack felt no more cumbersome than a running vest for all the scrambling and tree dodging. The Tasmanian wilderness is notorious for being harsh on outdoor gear, so I was somewhat skeptical of this lightweight material, as I imagine most people are. However there was no need, as it's tougher than you think, but you also don't scuff it on shrubs, rocks, or tress as much as you would with a 'standard' pack. I found that with little to no effort, I was dodging these obstacles which would otherwise cause the gradual degradation of gear. I've also done some longer day runs where I can pack a comfortable amount of clothing, food, and luxury items like a towel if I know I'm going for a swim - however if I choose to just take the essential items, the cinch system allows me to compress the 35L pack into a very small volume pack with ease while still reducing bounce etc. It's now my go-to pack for any day trip. I will be bringing this pack to Antarctica, where I work, so I can comfortably run in the cold conditions and have sufficient storage to carry spare layers and high calorie food (both quite important as you can imagine). Finding a pack that allows this storage while still providing a comfortable running experience has been a pain up until now, so I am stoked with the XA 35. My only advice would be to ease into the running experience with the pack when loaded. During any running or fast walking, you do not notice the load directly transferring onto your shoulders as the wide shoulder straps do a great job of dispersing the weight. However you are no doubt involuntarily activating your traps and some neck muscles to stabilize this load, which can be surprisingly tight the following day(s). Now that I've used the pack several times I don't get this anymore, but following the first use with a full pack I was quite stiff! I would have no suggestions to Salomon with what to fix or amend for future models; this pack just works. All of the adjusting and compressing is straight forward and very functional. I was even surprised at the lack of sweat given the amount of contact it has with the body! It just works! If you've been looking for a while, like I was, I can recommend just getting one and start ticking off your adventure to-do list!
